What percentage of passengers would you say are of the following kinds at major airlines:
a) Business travelers
b) Leisure travelers
c) Others

I am talking systemwide because obviously some routes are more leisure-based (e.g. flights to the Caribbean from the US) and others more business based such as say a Washington DC to Boston.

It really depends on the airline. An airline like Air Transat is going to have almost 100% leisure traffic vs. an airline like Open Skies who focus on business passengers.

My opinions, statements, etc. are my own and do not have any association with those of any employer.

Good question but MD11 is right...it depends on the airline...the market...the time of year and other external variables.

I think it is also impacted by frequency of flying, type of ticket, etc.

Examples:

- I suspect that few people redeem miles for business tickets
- I fly about 50% as business & 49% as leisure & 1% mileage runs or plane boredom
- Class of service, as in how many people are traveling on paid F/C tickets for leisure

and I am sure many other complications that prevent a neat answer to your question

I want to live in an old and converted 727...
