Hey! When is the Spirit of Alaska 737-400 (I think that's what it's going to be called) coming out? You all know...the airplane representing Alaska's 50th year of Statehood.

Will the Alaska's 50th special livery be applied to the same 737-400 (N754AS) that has carried "Spirit of Alaska" titles below the cockpit windows on an otherwise standard paint livery?

The titles on 754 has been on the aircraft for a quite awhile now. I remember doing a D-check on that aircraft back in 1998 or 1998 in the SEA hangar, but the titles looked a heck of a lot different then. It was in a different type of lettering/font.
I hope they do the 50th year of statehood on a different aircraft, it would be nice to see it on the 2nd AS 734: 755.

This is how I remember the titles looking the one and only time I have been a pax on 754, which was in June, 2000. Appropriately enough, on the occasion of this flight, N754AS "Spirit of Alaska" was operating a "milk run" flight routed SEA-KTN-SIT-JNU-ANC.

Funny, I never noticed that script change on the "Spirit of Alaska" until now. The old script looked better, so I don't know why they changed it. I flew on ship 754 in Aug 1998 (SJC-SEA), Jul 2000 (PDX-SJC), June 2002 (SJC-PDX), and Nov 2006 (SAN-SFO). Especially since I wasn't flying Alaska all that much during some of those years, it seems like this airplane and I have an affinity for each other!
Small bit of trivia: ship 754 is the first 737-400 Alaska took delivery of, but it is not the oldest in the fleet. That distinction belongs to ship 786, which is one of the very few aircraft (perhaps the only) in the current fleet for which AS was not the original operator.

786 was the first 734 I ever worked on....

Had all of the 734's been outfitted with HUD's when AS started taking delivery? What was the first 734 to be outfitted with a HUD system?
