Quote: JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- An Indonesian passenger plane made an emergency landing Monday morning after its engine failed, an airport official said.
The Boeing 737 landed at Batam Airport shortly after leaving Tanjung Pinang for the capital, Jakarta, said Hendrawan, an airport spokesman. Tanjung Pinang is about 50 miles southeast of Singapore.
The failure of the left engine of the Sriwijaya Air plane occurred at 2,000 feet.

It's more likely to be a diversion after an engine fire/failure I think, but seeing that aviation incidents are in the spotlight lately (sadly) the media will jump on every incident making it sound much more worse..

Quoting 9V-SVC (Reply 2): I dont understand this article if the plane had make an emergency landing, of course the passengers will survive under such circumstances.
I think the media just made clear that everybody is ok in a weird way...

Quoting FatmirJusufi (Reply 5): Absolutely agree with you. Last years media seems to have a gross influence exaggerating minor air accidents.
Perhaps a valid point (but also maybe not) but, then again, in reality any emergency landing for any reason shouldn't be regarded or played as a "minor air accident". Nothing minor about any flying incident.
