AB Is Switching To Terminal 8 @JFK

Effective April 3, AB is changing from Terminal 4 to AA Terminal 8 at JFK airport for the JFK-DUS route on the A330-200.
I am wondering if this change has to do with the busy Gates at T4 or maybe a financial issue.

Does anyone has some more information on the reason of this change?

Best Regards,

AMS

I thought AB had pulled out of JFK last year. Has the route simply become seasonal?

Yes that is correct. Last year LTU was operating the route, Now AB has taken over LTU and some routes as JFK, LAX have been reinstated.

Does AB codeshare with AA? Or will American just be doing contracted ground handling?

At the Moment AB does not appear to have any codeshare agreements on the North America routes. I was kind of surprised why they would move to AA terminal 9, which is really more of a One World alliance terminal.

Therefore I am trying the determine the sense of moving to terminal 9, If AB would form some sort of Alliance with One World then it would make sense.

There may not be much to determine. If T-9 has a gate at the right time for the right price, then the move makes sense.

They have a nice FIS, it's a nice if spartan terminal. Maybe they can also work a deal to use the Admirals clubs.
