I really like it and I can't wait to see the 1st A318!

The summer time is almost getting here and finally we'll be able to snap the first picture of Mexicana's B767-300ER under the new c/s! I hope to do that too, TODAY!

If not, I'll later post it here as soon as I have it!

The Boeing 717 is also getting to MEX anytime! First flight it's schedule for April 3rd of 2009! So it's just a matter of hours or days to see them! If I get the first one, I'll also share it here!

g77... heading to MEX for more pictures!

Thanx Ghost. Can't wait to see the B717s and A318s wearing the new livery.... I still think the new livery looks better on the widebodies, specially the A330s.... the CRJs look sharp as well.

I have to admit I was one of the A.netters who bashed the new livery, but its starting to grow on me.

Air Midwest is in trouble, they gave Republic all of their flying, Mexicana will lease their B717s.

Air Midwest

I think you mean Midwest Airlines (dba Midwest Express). Air Midwest was commuter carrier based in Wichita, KS...that was absorbed by Mesa.

The first 6 MX 717s are being painted in Miami at AAR. Somebody needs to get a shot of them. There should be 3 there now.

Two B717-200 in full QA colors are out of the paint shop and ready to be delivered. I just landed in MIA an hour ago and the two B717 were parked next to a US A320 outside AAR's hangar. Nice gift for my eyes after a long flight from Mexico.

So is MX ditching the IAEs for CFMs? Shame on them if they are.

Hey Falcon Flyer! Long time since your last visit, when are you coming down to TLC? Please let me know, I'll try to take you to the end of 15 for some good spotting at TLC, this airport has changed a lot, I don't know if you've landed ur plane recently on that airport, but we even now are ILS CAT II.

Nice, people just told me it's getting here on Monday 30th or Tuesday 31st!! Test flights on ACA on the 1st or 2nd, first revenue flight on April 3rd 2009!!!

Hello Fly2HMO!

Since December of 2001, with the arrival of N612MX, its first A319, MX kind of started switching from IAE to CFM.

Today, the count is:

10xA318 CFM
21xA319 CFM
05xA319 CFM (ordered)
25xA320 IAE-A1 (oooooooold!)
04xA320 CFM

It's 40xCFM versus 25xIAE.

Yeah, too long. Definitely overdue for a trip to TLC or MEX. Unfortunately I don't foresee any trips in the near future.

What a huge step down in class for their livery. The tail on the previous scheme was stunning. The new livery looks like a killer whale with eagle head shaped birth marks.

The original idea was for the IAE´s on the A319´s too and upgrade the A320´s from -A1 to -A5, but it was cheaper go get them all with CFM´s, also the A318´s add more economicals to the ecuation sharing the same engine, also it´s posible and easier to "share" engines between planes wich reduces time in the shop.

I completely agree. MX's best livery remains the one pictured in Reply 10 above. I do admit the new c/s is growing on me, but it's no match for the classic white/dark green tail.

Juventus,

I agree with you. At first I did not like it but the more I look at it the more I like. It is actually very stunning.

I have yet to actually see it in person but the pictures especially the A330s are spectacular.

I guess changes are difficult to accept at first and that is what happened to me when the
logo and colors changed.

It reminds me of the colors of trucks and toys that boys played with when I was a child.

I figured they'd make the switch. Oh well, at least I'll get to hear that awesome sound with Volaris.

It's taken me a while to warm up to the new Mexicana livery, which is leaps and bounds better than the interm scheme (black tail, negative space tail logo-"chopped off"). While I am not a supporter of negative space logo, I did do a mock-up to make the previous scheme more pleasant, using some old design elements:

It also took me a while to appreciate the "toothpaste" look of AC's current scheme. With Mexicana's, the feeling is the same . In both cases though, you have something VERY DISTINCTIVE pulling up to the gate, against all the white fuselages of the competitors..

sorry... can T I missed the T/

I always wanted Mexicana to have DC9 when I was really young, In fact I flew in MX DC/10 lot of times and loved the colors gold/black back then.
The 717 will look great but I think the new color scheme is too modern and hip, I would have loved the same scheme in black and gold.

Best regards
TRB
