Today, Reuters released an article covering some comments from Boeing India's Dinesh Keskar. He specifically discusses Boeing deliveries to India in the next 5 years, as well as the lateness of the 787.

I looked at news releases on the Boeing web site and found nothing about new 787 orders. Might be too soon for an announcement though. Would be nice to see more orders, reflecting perhaps a new found confidence the program is doing better about getting back on track.

Hence the reason for the question mark. Has Reuters given us a preview of Thursday's order update? Or is this just bad reporting?
On my side, I have not heard anything. So I was wondering if there was anyone out there who might have heard any rumors. . .

The number 892 appears in this one-year-old story ; and the exact same sentence as is used in the Dinesh Keskar story of "waiting for 892" also appears in this Reuters story from Jan 2009
So it is more likely to be sloppy reporting (not checking current totals after cancellations) than any new orders.
Interestingly, I do remember that orders stayed stuck at 896 for a very long time last year but I do not remember 892 as a total on the way up.

That's what got me curious. My first impression was that it was bad reporting, and the journalist had gotten the number post 1 cancellation, but not all three. However, I can't make it work going backwards. And like you, I don't remember them at a point last year going up of being at 892.

Ok, I think I got it.
It was 857 before Etihad (35) which made it 892 and then Bangladesh Biman (4) to reach 896.
The NYT story from April 10, 2008 had an accurate number of 892 orders when published.
