Walking to the Admirals Club at C19 in DFW tonight, I noticed a 762 pushing off gate C8. I was shocked, since we don't see that kind of metal around here often. I inquired, and it was operating 2485 to LAX tonight.
Any of the AA community out here know how this bird got down here, and why? I was guessing it could be an MX rotation out of MCI, but I could not find any flight history to back it up on Flightaware.
Any insight is appreciated. What a nice surprise to find that betty at your gate tonight. That is, if you are like me, and really dig the 762.

Hmm...
I did a little research, but am as confused as you are. It seems AA436 LAX-DFW was operated by a 762 today. Probably just a routine equipment swap for m/x. What's weird is tomorrow (according to FlightAware, so take it with a grain of salt), they're (AA 436, and AA 2485) also scheduled to be a 762. I looked at recent flights to and from AFW, MCI, and TUL for DFW, but didn't see any 762s.
My guess it's just a last minute equipment change, they had a 762, and it is comparable (both capacity and type rating wise to the 757 that it's normally scheduled on.

Sure.... the plane {acft 322, reg: N322AA arrived from LAX as AA436 at 16:59 before departing as AA2485 at 20:02. She is scheduled for routine overnight maintenance at LAX the next two nights. Here is acft 322's routing:

2485/31MAR was operated with a 762 since the original 752 (N619AA) that was scheduled to cover both 436 and 2485 went out of service in LAX.
