I was looking through some pictures and I saw this one. Alitalia 767-200ER? I think it was a mistake. Looks like a beautiful -300 to me.

Definitely a 767-300. Alitalia does not operate the -200 and never has. The first -300's operated by Alitalia were leased from Ansett to alleviate Alitalia's shortage of long-range airliners and open up routes to markets that didn't need the 747 or MD11 or were too small to
support them.

To the USA, Alitalia flies the 767-300 to Newark from
Milan/Malpensa and Rome, Boston, Chicago, and JFK
from those cities, and to San Francisco.

Miami and one FCO-JFK flight and the JFK-MXP flight
operate with the 742 as does MIA-MXP flights. The
LAX flight operates with an MD11.

AZ's colors do look beautiful in my opinion. Question tho, the 742 flights b/w jfk-fco/mxp operate full often...how are they going to manage with a 772? Any thoughts? Changing the one JFK-FCO 763 and JFK-FCO 742 into two 772s?

MIA-MXP is now a daily MD11 instead of thrice-weekly 742. This started 25 March.

Well, they certainly need the B 744 at some stage.

Do you guys think they will order the B 747-400s again?

I'm not sure about 744's. they may get 773's and 773ER's in the near future. AZ is odd. for some reason they post losses, but from what I've heard, a lot of their US flights are operating at full or near full capacity.

Hopefully, we'll see some new 747's in AZ colors!

Alitalia is plagued by liberal labor laws which are affecting many other European airlines. These laws make it very difficult to trim labor costs during difficult economic times. This, mediocre management, the lack of an alliance to feed its flights and high fuel costs mean troubled flying ahead for Alitalia.
