Allegiant is cancelling BLI-RNO as of May 29.
That also ends all their scheduled service at Reno leaving only the casino chaters. I always thought Reno/Tahoe had some potential as a small focus city, particularly as the area has moved to be more of an outdoor activity destination and less of a gambling based area.
It looks like the BLI-based aircraft will be used to expand BLI-OAK flights. That schedule is increasing from the current 2 days to 4 days a week starting in June.

And SAN-BLI is increasing back up to 3x wkly in June (from 2x now.)
Another blow to the air service picture in Reno; considering they didn't have that much to start with, RNO seems to be one of the hardest hit cities in terms of lost service in the past few years. Bad economy locally, compounded by nation (world) -wide economic slow down...

With Reno's economy that is always as good as that of a 3rd world country unlikely. It's not called Tent City for nothing.

Quoting MKE22 (Reply 3): Is there any city pair G4 operates daily?
Depending on the time of year, BLI-LAS operates daily. I'm not aware of any other G4 route which operates on a daily basis.

RNO sure has seen it's ups and downs. I doubt it will ever get back to where it was when QQ was in town. The airport facilities are better than ever -- it's just too bad more flights/airlines aren't coming to town. I did see on RNO's Web site DL is adding Saturday only service to MSP, which will be a nice re-introduction of a route NW used to fly a few times daily. The service is currently seasonal, but I hope the demand is such it not only goes daily, but stays year round. On that note, is DL bringing back RNO-ATL service?
When I went to check out RNO's Web site I was looking for updates on the current construction going on there. Sadly, the "Updates" page hasn't been updated since July, 2008. I'm sure a lot has gone on over the past nine months, it's too bad RNO's PR/marketing department doesn't share it. Anyone have info about the progress?

RNO is not the only destination that has seen its share of significant loss of service. But OAK, ironically, has lost a good amount of service the loss of CO, AA, AQ, TZ and TA. And the reduction of service from UA, B6 and WN.
The only airlines to add service are G4 and HA.
We can only wish that Volaris and/or AM starts up OAK service in the near future.

Not necessarily. G4 has had some longevity destinations like ICT, DSM, CID, etc.
BLI is unique to G4 in that they serve multiple destinations, but it is not considered a sunny, vacation destination.

If BLI-SAN is increasing in frequency from 2X to 3X weekly, is it possible that the MRY-SAN frequency would increase as well? Isn't the BLI-based MD-80 making the short roundtrip to MRY from SAN?

Now there is a statement as ridiculous as any I have every heard. Allegiant has been in dozens of markets for years!!! The only requirement is that they make money. Go figure.

I can tell you that as of 5/31, SAN will see both its BLI and MRY flts on Su, Tu and Th (so G4 will need to only staff SAN on those days.) MRY service has been set at 3x wkly since it's announcement.
No, it's an LA-based a/c that's doing MRY-SAN service:
lv LAX 7 25am #326 Su Tu Th (all flts eff 5/03)
ar MRY 8 40am
lv MRY 9 20am #324 Su Tu Th
ar SAN 10 40am
lv SAN 11 20am #323 Su Tu Th
ar MRY 12 40pm
lv MRY 1 20pm #325 Su Tu Th
ar LAX 2 35pm
(I'm not sure where it goes from here but it is NOT BLI -- that service is on Mo We Sa.)

The Tuesday evening flight goes away in April and May, so the flight goes down to 6x weekly. and the morning turn goes away in May, but both come back in June for the summer, I believe Thursday and Sunday for the AM flight, and the evening flight operates 7 days a week. The schedule gets adjusted based on demand (obviously) however 8 out of 12 months there is at least daily service, with sometimes 2x daily.
