CASA to probe grounding of Ansett planes
The Civil Aviation Safety
Authority, CASA, says it is
carrying out a full investigation
into the grounding of seven Ansett aircraft.
Ansett grounded the planes, used for domestic flights, in
Melbourne after routine checks found cracks in the engine
Three of the 767s have been found to have cracks, two
have been cleared and a further two are still undergoing
An Ansett spokesman says it is rearranging flights while
repairs are made to three aircraft over the next few days.
The spokesman says the hairline cracks are about seven
centimetres long and there was no risk to safety.
CASA official Peter Gibson says the matter is being
