I have been working in Montreal the last couple of months at a company that does heavy checks on regional airliners from beech 1900's to emb 170's and have noticed that some of the ATR's look totally different from each other some have a four blade prop and some have 6 blades, I even noticed that a conviasa plane had the cargo door on the right side and it opened up like a regular passenger door the door on the left side had stairs that folded out are these things that the airline chooses or is it the manufacture?

For starters, there are two different ATRs, the ATR 42 and ATR 72. The ATR 72 us 2,5m longer than the ATR 42 and has a span 4.5m greater.
Then there is the ATR42-100, -200, -300, -320a, -400, -500, the ATR72-200, -210, -500.
Incidentally, if you click on the menu tab labeled "AIRCRAFT DATA" at the top of this page, you can find all this information and more for the ATRs and any other civil airliner.
