Hi

As requested by mods here is the 2nd LHR news thread as number one has reached critical length.

http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo...eneral_aviation/read.main/4325124/

One thing we have noticed at T5 is the slight BA livery change, the aircraft are quickly having the last three letters of the registration added above the centre flight deck windows. This makes the a/c identifyable from the terminal as the jetway arrangement at T5 can be confusing!

For instance the actual stand can be several metres away from the gate and the plane in front of your gate is not yours,

Hope that makes sense?

There is a travel update on ba.com where it was mentioned that a flight arriving late from BCN would disembark at T5 (instead of T3). I was suprised to read that, especially that with Air France you never now where you'll be disemnbarking at CDG. Lately, I have always disembarked at the wrong terminal. Does this happen with BA?

Next flights : BRU-ZRH-CAI (LX)/ BRU-FCO-TLV (AZ)

Ahhhhh, that explains it. I have seen a few like that and wondered why I was only seeing it now and then.

Quoting AIR MALTA (Reply 1):

Not seen anything like that on ba.com (Just has a look) But I guess it would be to do with staff available to meet the flight. (can you post the link, have looked all over the uk and Spanish site)

Happens in JFK, if the last flight of the day arriving is late, it has to go to another terminal for immigration as the BA terminal closes.

My understanding is that this flight was very delayed due to weather in BCN and as a result was arriving LHR after midnight. BA does not have staff in T3 on a night shift, so there would be no BA staff to meet the arrival, so it arrived into T5 where the night staff there could assist passengers.

It is not a daily operational plan by more adhoc.

That explains it. Was even having a look on the intranet as I was sure I had heard nothing about this lol

When I worked in T4 PSU for BA, we'd occasionally have a late-night DME arrival (767) arrive at T4 instead of T1, due to T1 having no night shift. T4 had a night shift, with passenger services, baggage and ramp available.

Any one tell me why there is a Kuwait 747 here?
I did not know they had them, as all I ever see at LHR (unless im blind) is 340's and 777s.
Its parked up near the royal suit so I guess it could have brought a VIP in?

Kuwait has just one 9K-ADE primarily used for government VIP duties however does actually operate ADHOC scheduled passenger flights from time to time replacing the A340s that overnight as well.

It operated KU103/104 today. That's the only time it's been seen here for a while.

Had a great sight meet me as I went past the roundabout on the way to T5. The 732 operating for JAT I think it is took off. MY GOD the noise it made, and smoke it belched, wow what a site!!!

A BA 777 took off after it, and could not believe how much more quieter it was  Smile

One question: I am flying to LHR this Friday (Ultravox concert in Hammersmith  cloudnine  ). Will I be able to see some rarities? I mean some VIP Jets? Or are there any stored jets right now?

25 LHRjc : Bizjets are all parked over to the South of 09R/27L by the Cargo Centre. Not a lot stored here apart from Concorde, there's no room!
26 Gkirk : Is the BA 777 that crash landed still there, or has it been broken up?
27 LHR380 : You might be lucky enough to see a 742 of Iran Air, a 747SP of Saudi, a UAE VIP 747 that always seems to be at LHR, a MD11 cargo plane of Eva, there

29 LHR380 : Yup lol. Sorry for the confusion, I did mean to say all 3 A380 carriers, EK SQ and QF.
30 LHRjc : It's in the process of being broken up now, remnants of it are still there. That's ok, I was just being pedantic.

142 Sketty222 : I would tend to agree with LHR380 Ive only travelled through T5 a couple of times but Ive never had any issues in finding where I need to be

162 LHR380 : Apparently according to a friend of mine at work the flight was hit 3 times by lightning. Cant confirm it, but thats what they have been told at work.
163 N93109 : Why did BAA/BA decide to not have two airbridges at T5 B like T4? With all widebodies, it would make sense to have two per gate. Will this come later?
164 LHR380 : I only noticed this the other week, but there are some duel jet bridges in T5B. Just never seen the 2nd pier being used for some reason.
165 LHRjc : G-EUYE was delivered on Friday as BA9258 completing the new A320 deliveries. Does anyone know when it'll enter revenue service?
166 Speedbird2155 : The only T4 gates with multiple airbridges are those for the A380. All other gates only have single airbridges. Also, it doesn't really add much time
167 TristarSteve : Completing? There are two more this year after the A318s, and at least two next year.
168 LHRjc : Sorry Steve, my mistake, I'm not sure what planet I was on when I wrote that! Is the current schedule still as follows? A320 G-EUYE 5-Jun-09 A318 G-E
