Hey,

I just heard from a friend that Skyservice might be taking on two 767's this summer from the UK. Anyone know of this and has any actual details in regards to this? This could just be a rumour.

Regards

The two 767's that Skyservice Had were from My Travel. Went back after a year of flying in our fleet. C-GJJC and C-GLMC ( this being the one that bent in PUJ ) Now re painted in the TCX colors. and Re registered.

About us getting 767's?? news to me, if that were the case I don't think the layoffs would have gone as High this year. I know our MTC department has had a lot of Repos coming from other airlines. 757's, have had a few so far, and I hear a 767 is on its way. Nothing for us to fly, just doing the Heavy checks on these birds.

In regards to Conquest, we only did about 4-5% of their flying, Canjet, WestJet, Air Canada and Transat prob did more flying for these guys, thinking Canjet the most. I could be mistaken. Big shock at our company, and across the industry, Who would have thought a player for 37 years in this industry would have just shut down without warning. I would have for sure bet my last dollar on one of the others dropping first... *ahem* sunwing....... But I am still convinced they are printing money in one of the back offices there haha.

But summer UK flying? For who? the market is totally saturated on the route YYZ to anywhere in the Uk. a money losing pit if ya ask me.

Pretty funny stuff. But the bet was that you guys would not survive. Two of my friends have left your inflight and are in the middle east. But you guys seem to have your act together. There was a thread on here earlier where it was rumored that Sunwing was a goner. I wonder who planted that..... hahaha

Ya just have to love the way rumors float around this industry. HOLY crap its crazy!! one minute to the next it keeps changing. We are fine, just taking a little breather during this economic mess, let the others duke it out. But remember, we are not really an airline per say, we offer the seats to the tour ops, they do all the decision making. Canjet Runs similar to us now.
I hope that everyone can manage to keep a job in these times. Would hate to see anyone out of work. Competition is bitter, and Rumors make it worse. Best Soap Opera in the world!! :P

On another note, I was browsing through First Air's website and looking at employment, they're seeking high hour captains and first officers for... 767s! Now, what the hell is that about? First Air flying 76s???

See the following thread from a couple of months ago. First Air is acquiring a 767 freighter.

That is just about the strangest thing I've heard in Canadian aviation in the last few years. I can't figure it out, unless the 727's are getting too old and, in the absence of newer combis, they want a plane with a big enough cargo capacity for the main flights down south?

Or, perhaps, First Air is going to make Iqaluit into a hub where people connect from all over north america on their way to a variety of european and asian destinations, and beat Icelandair (and even Emirates!), at their own game.  Wink

Next flight.... who knows.
