AA 174 RDU-LHR just diverted to BOS at 2030l due to a engine gas temperature gauge failure. It landed overweight also. They are doing an aircraft swap and continuing onto LHR.

broken lavs, engine problems. It could be a long summer for AA passengers.

Or perhaps the pilots are not continuing with flights they otherwise would operate.

Granted, EGT problems can lead to serious consequences.

I'm pretty sure, that if you write your own rules out of "grudge" or out of misery, you wouldn't last too long at a major american airline...

oh yeah AND they'd sue the hell out of you lol

The only time there is too much fuel onboard, is when you're on fire!

It could be a short summer if AA, or any other operator, ignored a tech problem like an EGT gauge failure, or something more serious. Short, as in not making their destination.

Wouldn't you rather pilots err on the side of caution and follow their procedures, rather than press-on to the destination and possibly not make it?

Now you're talking sense.

Do you mean the EGT temp or the fuel temp?

Where was the switched aircraft from? Did it cause the aircraft's original flight from BOS to be delayed, or did it have a long (enough) layover?

Pilot: "Request push, which way should we face?" JFK Ground: "You better face the front, sir, or you'll scare the pax!"

AA stops frequently into BOS with Intl flights with mechanicals going eastbound and they rob the AA155 aircraft after it arrives and serviced. They hope to fix the problem overnight and place the broken aircraft back in service for AA156 in the morning.
