Contrasting to the 737-200 posts, what was your shortest flight on a 747 or 330/340? Mine was YYZ-YUL on board OA's 747 in only 40'. I exluded the 777, because it is oftenly used in shorter routes than the others, but if you feel like including it, no problem.

Years ago LH had a flight from Dallas to Houston - normal flight time ( air-time 25 to 30 mins ). This flight I was on took us for about 45 mins due to a detour around a thunderstorm area.

LH also flies the 340 FRA-MUC

those are 'real' (ferry-) flights, not just part of an intercont flight (like FRA-GRU-GIG)

Gulf Air fly BAH-DOH using A340 and A330 sometimes, with a flying time of about 20 minutes.

Would be even quicker if overflying Qatar were allowed...

Eg777er, i´d like to remind you that DOH is in Qatar. so if they are to land in DOH they certainly must overfly Qatar.

what about LH´s DXB-AUH? the schedule states a flying time of approx. 40, 45 minutes. actual flying is much less, of course. (i believe it´s even closer than BAH-DOH)

OA has also used 747s in many occasions for ATH-SKG which is less than 30' flying time with the 747.

When AIR INTER (french domestic airline) had A330-300, I used to fly from Paris (ORY) to Strasbourg (SXB). It was about 40 minutes of flight on a A330! I would like to add that this bird of 412 seats was often crowded!!!!

Aer Lingus A330, DUB-SHN, the timetable has this noted at about 45 mins, but actual flight time is around 20 mins, with about 10 mins, max, taxi at Dublin and no holding at Shannon.....ever

My shortest 747 flight was MAA-MAA in 1986!

We had a partial hydraulics failure on takeoff and were unable to retract the landing gear. Circled round, dumped fuel and were back on the ground all of 7 minutes later.

My shortest flights on A330 and A340
were both YYZ-YUL as well. However, on
a DC-10 my shortest flight was Buenos
Aires (EZE) - Montevideo (MVD) in 17
minutes!

I flew on A340 from Beijing to Shanghai last summer. It was a China Eastern airlines jet. Our flight took only about 11/2 hours, but we had ground delay for about a hour. That A340 later continued to Hong Kong and then on to Australia I think. It was my first time on A340 and it was a cool experience.

Aerolineas Argentinas uses a 747-200 on MIA-JFK. Of course, you can't fly that leg. You can fly MIA-EZE or JFK-MIA-EZE. Air Canada uses (or at least has in the past) an A340 on MIA-YVR during the winter.
