I saw in another thread that NW planes are being painted to DL colors at GLH. How long has that facility been there?
I flew my first cross country solo trip to GLH back in the early 70's. All that was there was a nice long runway, a terminal that consisted of a few military quonset huts and not even a control tower, just UNICOM 122.8. All you really had to watch out for was the odd crop duster or Southern Airways DC-9. All it had was VOR approach to it.
How much have they improved GLH since then?

It is a third party company and they have been there for a while. Atleast ten years or so. They work in correlation with GE Capital who have a boneyard down that way where many NW birds have gone to die.
