My Delta flight to LAX was taxiing in ATL when we all saw a thick plume of black and grey smoke coming from a recently-landed Delta 757. We're on a ground stop while fire crews deal with the plane. Any DL insiders know what happened? Have photos from iPhone that I'll post later.

I just departed ATL and we taxied past a 752 at the T-Gates, it was surrounded by fire trucks and the left wing and engine were wet as was the ramp area around the aircraft.

I'd rather shoot BAD_MOTIVE

As a follow-up....once we were airborne, our captain reported that the 757 experienced an engine failure during its takeoff roll (not landing, as I previously stated), resulting in the smoke.

DL's 757's are all Pratt powered I believe some may have the earlier PW2037's still on the wing.

I love to fly, and it shows!

It was ship 697. They aborted takeoff at 110kts after the left engine failed.
