I was looking at the new route map and I saw 4 European routes served non-stop from CLT:LGW,FRA,CDG, and...FCO. I know they applyed for it and got the approval, but the times sucked. When they first reveiled there new route map on the new site, it excluded CDG but included FCO. Then they reversed it and now they show both CDG and FCO. I'm really confused so some help would be great.

US Airways did not apply for CLT-FCO, nor did they get approval.

U.S.-Italy is Open Skies and requires absolutely no application/approval process, so I have no idea where you got the story that the "times sucked," because there was never an application.

The route map includes through flights, and US 718 is CLT-PHL-FCO with a change of aircraft.

That route map shows direct flights as well as non-stops. I was a bit surprised when I first looked it as well but then I realised that the flight originates in CLT, stops in PHL and then continues on to FCO.

I shouldn't have said applied, they were interested, but the slots they recieved were arriving at FCO at 430 am and departing FCO at 630 AM

I truly doubt there is any bit of truth to that.

FCO has plenty of slot availability, and I don't even think FCO is open for landings at 4.30.

US may very well have considered FCO-CLT, I don't know. But they didn't not go through with it because they couldn't get very easy to acquire slots.

According to Boeing, FCO has no night curfew except one of the three runways can't be used from 2300 to 0600.

Unfortunately, this came from another site so I don't have a link to it, but it seems as if US requested a 05:50 (GMT) arrival into FCO but was awarded a 04:10 GMT (so 06:10 local, not 04:10) slot.

Probably US will begin CLT-FCO route as seasonal service, in the same way as CLT-CDG, in S10.

I'm pretty sure there's a setting on there somewhere that allows you to only show nonstop flights. I know I've done it.

Every flight counts.

Confusing yes...

...the same is the case with e.g. the new US788/789 from Philadelphia to Oslo. US788 starts in Fort Lauderdale and ends up in Oslo via Philadelphia (change of plane in PHL), and the same with US789 returning back to Fort Lauderdale via Philadelphia.
