Do You Know What "Rekkof" Means?

"Rekkof" means "Fokker" backwards. According to "Aviation International News - Sep. 99", this is the name chosen by the group seeking to resurrect the production of Fokker's regional jetliner family. Jaap Rosen Jacobson, the man behind this venture, claims to be "a couple of months" away from securing the financial backing needed to formally relaunch the Fokker programs even though his search for backers has already taken more than a year longer than originally anticipated.

Mr. Jacobson has argued that the cost of restarting Fokker's jet line production will be less than a quarter of the development costs for new regional jets, such as those offered by Brazil's Embraer.

I think the Fokker F-27 was by far the finest airliner ever. It will be great news if we can get the Dutch manufacturer back to the airline industry.

Cheers

Personally, I'd like to see Fokker back in the game. The F-100 is a favorite of mine. You're saying they actually want to call the company "Rekkof"? I don't think that would be such a good idea, although it would be easier to avoid the Freudian slip!

Does anyone have any ideas as to who would want the F-100/F-70, if production began again today? Unless they are able to innovate and expand the product line, I believe they would have a hard time growing.
