I was wondering, how many CO flights to Europe are DC-10's anymore? If any at all. Also, how many DC-10's do they have left? Thanks

According to the CO timetable, these are the only ones left:

EWR-FCO (flight 40)
EWR-MAD (flight 62)
EWR-MXP (flight 44)

Most DC10s are either on HNL runs, EWR-IAH runs, or CO Micronesia. I believe CO has 18 examples left.

Continental has 18 DC10's left in its fleet. From Newark, they operate to Houston, Honolulu, Milan, Rome, Madrid, and for the summer, to Glasgow, Scotland, to
accomodate demand on this route.

Continental operated 36 DC10's in all, but has been phasing them out, 1 for 1 first with 777's, then 764's,
and now 762's.

When will CO replace DC-10s on European routes?

CO had already been replacing them. When they received the 777 the DC-10 services to LGW, FRA and CDG were replaced. ZRH now has the CO 767 and AMS & BRU have the B757 instead of the DC-10. This summer that 757 will be replaced by the 767-200.

Last spring my school Europe trip flew on a CO 777 EWR-FCO, so I think that they've replaced the DC-10's on at least SOME of the flights to FCO...?

Jean,

CO operates 2 daily flights from EWR-FCO. One Flight is a 777 and the other is still operated with a DC-10. So you got lucky and got to fly on the cooler plane.

We only operate one daily flight into FCO, and it IS a DC-10. FCO flights have been 777 on and off since their delivery, along with MXP. Our "second" flight to Rome is really an AZ 767-300, leaving late night from EWR. Currently, and until more 767s and 777s are delivered, the FCO/MXP flights will remain as DC-10-30 operated.

EWR-FCO and EWR-MXP used to be operated by 777's, but CO needed two 777's for the EWR-HKG flight. They took the 777's from the two Italy flights, and replaced them with DC-10's. They will be replaced with more 777's as they come.

CO also operates DC-10's from IAH-LAX.
