There are a ton of reports on El Al Israel Airlines and the IAF doing some sort of air display over the Tel Aviv area in salute of Israel's 61 years of independence from the British mandate. Does anyone know if there are pictures around? I heard that it was really impressive and involved LY using four aircraft: a Boeing 747-400 (Tel-Aviv), Boeing 777-200 (Sderot), Boeing 767-300 (HaEmek?) and a Boeing 737-???. How were they able to just send out four aircraft during a regular flight schedule. There must not have been passengers on board and all traffic to TLV and SDE must have been suspended. If anyone has any more details, that would be great.

I have seen this airshow many times, (minus the LY aircraft) and it is the best airshow on earth!
The airshow takes place on Tel Aviv's beach, and if I recall correctly commercial air traffic would land at Ben Gurion, and Sde Dov during breaks in the show.

The 767-200ER was EAE, the 738 was 4X-EKF.
Only 3 pilots were on every a/c which were flying at 1000 feet all over Israel for nearly 2 hours.
It was the 1st time in the airline history that 4 a/c are flying side by side... Was very impressive.
Yesterady was not really a regular flying day, some regular flights were not operated because of poor demand.
The 772 continued in the evening to HKG, the 744 is now on the way to JFK and the 762 went to YYZ. The 738 continued a hour after the air show to BRU and right now is at OTP.

Here is a link to an Israeli website. I guess you should not have problems to see the JPG icon next to a message with a picture. Just click that icon and you should see the photo. You have there photos from the airport (before departure), photos from the coast line and photos from the aircraft themselves.
A little help for non Hebrew speakers:
The in-flight pictures would be the ones marked "1" thru "9" (taken from the 738), and the next 3 as well (taken from the 744).
The post tagged as "flix" contains a link to a video.

The link to the Tapuz forum did not work for me. I did though upload photos that were sent to me by a friend at El Al. So I thought that I would post them here.

Yeah, amazing pics!
Just as a side question-isn't May 14th the day Palestine was released from British Mandate with May 15th being the day the Jews claimed their state?

Yes, but holidays are celebrated according to the Jewish date, and according to the Jewish date our Independence day was on Wednesday.
