Dear all,
as a bit of a novice at all this, I fear my question sounds kind of silly to all of you experts!
But, if you could bear with me and try to answer the following question please, that´d be most obliged:
Those brand spanking Embraers that KLM are having delivered lately, how do they fly Brazil - Amsterdam? With extended range fuel tanks, or is the Northern Great-circle route via Canada with a few stops here and there the actual trick?
Couldn´t find it Googling, you see.
Cheers,
Ecuadorian MD11.

The exact routing would depend on weather conditions, but Embraer deliveries to Europe generally go via REC, SID or DKR if necessary, and then the Canary Islands (e.g., LPA or TFS) and/or Portugal (e.g., FAO). The overwater segment REC-SID is only 1895 miles, so extra fuel tanks shouldn't be necessary.
If you look in the database, there are numerous photos of Embraers for European airlines spotted at REC on their delivery flights, including a KLM E190 that was going from there to TFS:

I confirm the above information that aircraft deliveries of EMBRAER to Europe normally make stop-overs in REC and SID and if necessary also DKR. FAO is the other preferred stop-over because it is the location of EMBRAER maintenance center in Europe.

Dear FoxBravo / Hardiwv,
okay, thanks..........
You really helped shining a light in the dark.
I kind of like those little Embraers.
You see quite a few with TAME in Euador now as well.
Not sure if they´re the identical type to the KLM ones though.
TAME do, however; name their planes after cities like KLM does with their 747´s.
