Good news despite a general economic environment which is generally recessive.

This could also be part of the tie in with TG. Fly to Rome and then codeshare to Turkey. I think people have gotten tired of the unreliability of the constant labour woes and are looking for alternatives. Can't be good news for Alitalia.

Probably you mean TK - Turkish Airlines not TG - Thai Airways.

Good to see Toronto-Rome is still strong in spite of current economic conditions....

Haven't heard much updates regarding the Alitalia situation...are they still seeking a buyer?

LH new Italia service really doesn't make it any easier for them...could we see LH italia taking over if Alitalia goes bust?

The engine is the heart of an airplane, but the pilot is its soul.

Air France-KLM group now owns 25% of new Alitalia.

Also, could this reflect that service was transferred from MXP? I maybe wrong but at one time if you include Alitalia and AC was there not at least one daily flight to each of Rome and Milan? Now is there even service to Milan?

AZ YYZ-MXP operated from 1996 to 2008. Unfortunately this flight, like many others during AZ's stint at MXP, was a good network flight, in that it provided a lot of flow to India, Intra-Italy, Middle East, Eastern Europe.. but the local market is still quite small relative to the size of Toronto - Southern Italy (Abruzzo, Lazio, Campania, Calabria)
