I searched the board and there's no mention of this.

Anyway, I've noticed EVA Air is bringing 744 back to LAX for May and June this year for the following flights

BR012 TPE-LAX Tue, Thur, Sat
BR011 LAX-TPE Thur, Sat
BR001 LAX-TPE Wed

Starting July, it looks like everything is back to all 773. Why am I bringing this up? If you fly economy, you can choose to get the upper deck seat(s) if you're Evergreen Club member, I thought those seats would all be gone 2 weeks before the flight but I got one by window. The feedback from BKK-LHR flights seems to be more favorable than the main deck.

Thanks for sharing the news! It will be great to see the green jumbos again, likely our last opportunity in LA.

Well EVA Cargo will continue to bring in the 744 for a long time to come.

Correction, non members may still get upper deck seats, but only 24 hours before the flight through online check-in, and amazingly they have longer seat pitch 35-36 than main deck economy seats. From discussion of UK members, pretty much everyone is trying to get one of those seats.

The only long haul sector using 744 year round is TPE-BKK-LHR, I guess the 3rd 744 gets shuffled around for different routes based on seasonal demands.

Interesting. What other airlines have economy class seating on the upper deck? I thought most airlines have premium (first or business) up there?

Flying in the middle seat of coach is much better than not flying at all!

AF also has Y seating on the upper deck, as well as a few VS planes that fly their leisure routes out of LGW.

JAL does as well on selected 744 and JALways classic 747s. PIA's ex CX B743s are also in a 3-3 config on the upper deck, though admittedly I'm not sure if these birds are still fying. I think some of SAA's 744s are also in this config? I'm not sure.

YVR gets the B744 year-round too.

Current 3 744 rotations, TPE-LAX, TPE-BKK-AMS, TPE-YVR, with some short hop flights to PVG, HKG during the day, each 3 times a week until the end of June. Now LHR flights are served with 773.

Starting July, 2 744s will return to TPE-BKK-LHR, one remains at the TPE-BKK-AMS. I'm not including the combi which is flying TPE-SFO a few days a week. Again, all those are tentative, things can change after the Fall.
