Was at OKC today spotting the DFW Diverts for an hour or so. Heard some funny conversations between the ground controller and various AAL flights.

AAL81 from LHR, B763

AAL81: [garbled] go talk to the guys downstairs and let us get airborne.

GND: I would, but no one seems to listen to me down there.

AAL81: [garbled] very frustrating.

GND: I know, I'm not pleased with the situation either.

--

GND: [About the new ground stop extension update] Bad news.

--

GND: American 2406, with me.

AAL2406: Ground, Twenty four o six, go ahead.

GND: American 2406, I have your ETC time, 130z, 5 minutes before or after, you will have a 10 minute window.

AAL2406: You're a great American.

--

GND: Eagle Flight 3668, ground, with me? [just landed, divert from DFW]

EGF3668: Ground, Eagle 3668, go ahead.

GND: Are you going to need to refuel before your departure?

EGF3668: Affirmative.

GND: Alright, well, your ETC closes in 15 minutes, go ahead and taxi into the ramp, monitor this frequency, I'll get a new ETC for you.

I assume what happened here was he got a clearance out of the ground stop from ZFW before he even landed and by the time he landed his ETC was almost invalid. It was breaking up some during some of those conversations, so that might not be exactly what was said, but none of it is made up, just what I could hear and remember.

Anyways, thought some of you guys might enjoy that, I sure did listening to it.

-Matt

Yeah, it is always fun to listen to GND Control talking to WX Diverts. Reminds me of the old Abbott & Costello "who's on first"?
