I heard it through the grapevine that LH will start bringing a 744 into MCO the last week of May for their daily service...Anyone out there know whats going on?? Is this temporary due to aircraft maintenance/shortage or is it the start of something really good!

I did read on another thread that is just temporary. For some reason the demand for Business Class is massive at the end of this month (something like 120 booked on 1 flight alone!)
But it reverts back to the A-333 in June. (Im travelling on staff tickets 10June hopefully in J and its looking v good load wise for me right now)

Quoting Robffm2 (Reply 3): How can they have 120 bookings in business? Their 747s have how many business seats? 80?
thats a so called overbooking
but I think the numbers will go down a little bit, because of last minute cancelations and there are also 16 seats in First. The worst case would be a well compensated downgrade to Economy.
LH is pretty good in reacting in such cases. They did the same the years before in DTW and send a B747 during the Motorshow.
Ok... i have done some investigating and this is what i got.
LH operate FRA-MCO on a MON,WED,THU,FRI,SAT. All flights are operated by A-333.
From 27MAY-03JUN all flight ops by a B-744, and on 02JUN (tue) there appears to be a one-off extra flight, also by B-744. After that it goes back to normal schedule of 5days a week, A-333. All flight are scheduled as normal, 1805hrs into MCO and dept. at 1955hrs.
Can anyone post some pics of LH at MCO? I have looked and cant find any on here!

Who can afford this route? It generally runs 1000 dollars more than a 1 stop connection on any of the US airlines. I don't get LH and their pricing schemes.

Well, if you've got so many J bookings that you need to upgrade the plane to a 747 to simply accommodate demand, then I'd guess that those folks in business class are paying for the flight and then some, so anything in Y would be just pure gravy.

I've got the LH A333 and LH A346 at MCO pictures posted on myaviation.net and airport-data.com
Quoting MAH4546 (Reply 12): There is a huge international medical convention (30,000+ doctors) in Orlando May 29th through June 2nd. That explains a lot, and the premium demand.
Does that mean a lot of private jets too that week?

Quoting Sevenforty (Reply 13): BA are sold out in Club on 27 May and the fare is £2615 on the 28th oneway. Returning sold out from the 1-3 June. 10x777 a week. Wish I was a Dr !!!
Remember that could in part be due to the recent BA Club 2 for 1 sale that was for any long haul destination up to October. Its also worth noting that VS only offer 12 J seats per flight, so again J seats are rather limited. Couple this with the usual Summer rush at MCO and I would imagine its pretty normal for BA to have a full J cabin.
Great to see the 744 of LH in MCO- LH made a real smart move with this MCO service.

Bit of a coincidence wouldn't you say ? Believe me if BA was filling 2 777 Club World cabins a day to Orlando the route would be outta Gatwick and up the road on a jumbo before you could say Disney World in a nanosecond !!!
May/June is ALWAYS a good time to go to FL from the UK on staff tickets, loads are always very light. I have done it 3 times on VS ex MAN and both ways the flights have had 150+ empty seats

After MCO was downgraded to the A333, I guess they had a few days of overbookings in J class too.

Interesting.. I flew it in September (MCO-MAN-MCO) and it was pretty full in both directions, albeit a few opens seats. Less than 40 open seats is pretty good on a 744!
Always nice to see another 747 at Orlando! I wish BA sent one instead of the daily 777....

What site is this? I would love to use a good photo as my Screensaver!!
Quoting MAH4546 (Reply 20): Again, as stated, there is a medical convention in Orlando that weekend. 30,000+ doctors from all the world
I think that what sevenforty meant was that May/June is traditionally shows a lull in tourist and Business traffic to FL (especially from the UK) and there is usually no rush at all!! (the Convention however, has shown a one-off surge in demand)

It not just buisness right now or then either. Over at disney I would say most are people from Eroupe on vacation. I have met a lot who get on my bus going to and from Downtown Disney.
