Does it mean that they have finished retofitting all their A340-600 by now? I remeber once having read that the B747 will be done thereafter. And what about their A340-300 and A330?

Hi Tobias
all A346 will be refitted by the end of may; the A343's are now in maintenance for the new cabin and all the A333 have allredy the PTV's.

In a MUC forum there is this thread, where post #3 gives an overview on which aircraft are equipped with PTV by type and registration. All A333 and A346 have PTV, according to that source, with the A343 of FRA and DUS bases being completed by June. MUC-based A343 will be completed in the beginning of 2010!
WARNING! The post above should be taken with a grain of salt! Furthermore, it may be slightly biased towards A.

Maybe I go to EZE with them in october... A pitty it's not the A346. Such flight can seem so long without PTV !! Unless I'm luck to get THE 747 with PTV

Sorry, not meaning to be a kill-joy, but do you got any sources for that?

Well I hope that LH will send these 20 744s on their longer routes that are operated by the 744.

well, I guess by the time the upgrade is completed they will start replacing their older 744s by the newly arriving 748s anyway..... keep in mind that they still got almost a year until they plan to be finished with the 343s....

So LH doesn't plan to put on any PTVs on their 744s until the whole 343 fleet is done?

While I have no means of having confirmed knowledge about this, I would be highly surprised if they did.... their maintenance is busy doing the 343s right now, so why should they mess up things further by starting the next task before the previous one is done? They also didn't start working on the 343s until they had finished the 333s and 346s....

Okay, I see.
Does anyone know for how long LH intends to fly the 20 newest 744s?

Interesting... they have 17 pre-1992 birds and 13 post-1996 birds. Even the last of those earlier birds will be pushing 100,000 hours within three years. I'm surprised they aren't sticking only to the last 13, which probably have 7-14 years of service left in them.
Most gorgeous aircraft: Tu-204-300, 757-200, A330-200, 777-200LR, 787-8

well, let's wait until we see an official announcement... I'm kinda sceptical, to be honest...

Quoting Sevenforty (Reply 7): UA and LH both in Star, not much fun down the back if you end up travelling from the States to Frankfurt with UA then on with LH.
UA not putting PTV's in Y on the 744s was a mistep, imo.
No moreso CO receiving their 787s in this lifetime!

When do they plan to start the installation? And just to confirm, are the PTVs in Y AVOD?
The journey of life is not based on the accomplishments, but the experience.

me too...LH's A333s, A343s and A346s was kinda predicatble, thus not so much a surprise to me, especially because the Y seats on A333s and A346s already had that "hole" in the back from the beginning.
But from the day LH started introducing PTVs in Economy, LH always said their B744s were not intended to receive it. Maybe they changed their minds after all, after the delays in A380 and B748i.
I'm still sceptical about this.
