Interesting article on HIA's website about what Airtran has done to fares at Harrisburg. One very interesting note is how traffic to MCO increased 53% for the 4th quarter 2008 compared to 4th quarter 2007. I have said all along it was a matter of trying to get passengers to use MDT instead of BWI and PHL. With a 53% increase, it certainly wasn't a matter of passengers just using FL instead of the other airlines that serve MDT. Now I realize some of the numbers could be people that wouldn't have gone at all (myself as one) to MCO if FL didn't start the new service here, but I think over all FL has been tremendous in helping MDT be a viable option now for many mid state travelers. In February the load factor was 91% for FL according to the HIA website. And with the new ATL service and bigger aircraft from both FL and DL, fares to many destinations are significantly lower.

Me too!!! Do you think they will park it at A-3? With all the CRJ's at A-3 and Dash-8's at A-2 it seems like it will be crowded over there. I was hoping they use C-1, then I will certainly get out the camera and get a nice shot from the road of FL 717, DL MD-88, and US A-319 all lined up in a row!!
