Are their 767s 6 across in coach? I remember when they got the 757 reading that they had configured it 5 across.

Boeing: "The 767-400ER is best suited for your needs"
Airbus: "The A330-200 is best suited for your needs"

Remember that Royal Brueni operates long range flites from the home base to Europe (Frankfurt and London, I think) and the 767 series is a little short on range - maybe they will go for the 777-200ER or A340-500. Also, the Sultan owns a large fleet of Airbus aircraft for his personal use. Although I am a Boeing fan, do not count Airbus out on this order.

I think (and hope) Royal Brunei will want to start to expand thier network, and add more capacity, all royal brunei flights i have been on have been jam pact. I am hoping that Royal Brunei will choose either the 777 or A340

My secondhand information on this issue says that the reason the 763 has fallen out of favor is because of range issues. Boeing is very hopeful of getting a 772 order from them for that reason. I wouldn't count Airbus out either with the 340 variants, but they are a longshot at best. The 330 is not an option from what I hear.

RBA, is one of those very unique airlines. In First Class they have gold plated sinks in these gigantic lavs as well as overhead bin buttons are gold plated. Apparently this adds quite a bit of weight to the airplane.
Traditionally they were not really interested in making RBA a profit center, however that has recently changed as the Sultan has decided that RBA will be a self-supporting airline.
They have some major hurldes to overcome since Bandar Seri Bagawan is not a natural hub since it has little direct traffic in/out of BSB. Why fly to BSB when you can go to SIN which is an 1 1/2 hour away? They carry alot of pax from BNE to LHR and FRA but you must stop at least twice. Plus they don't serve booz.
I would doubt that they would expand much in Europe, perhaps more in the Middle East, Asia, and the subcontinent. They had always talked of flying to HNL with MD-11's so they could connect with the States, but I doubt that will come of fruition.
As for what airplane they will buy, I'm not going to venture a guess. I will say that it overstating that the Sultan has a large fleet of Airbus as he only has 1 A340-200 plus a 747-400.
For political reasons, I think they will fly Boeings.

It would be nice if they got a few 777s, perhaps even a few -200LR and started nonstop flights to LAX... One can always wish The777Man

Yes, royal brunei is a lavish airline, bigger seats in Y class, Great Great service(so good it almost gets annoying-almost), Great food, and Great Bathrooms (yes Much better than SIA or CX) . The only things are the interior is getting a little old, Seats in Y class (no PTVs), No Grog either, but if you buy duty free the F/As will serve it to you. No Frequent flyer or business lounge in Brunei(First only)
Cant wait for some new BI aircraft, Now they will be flash
Have a good one,
Eric
The A340 looks nice in the BI C/S A340-600 would look nicer. A 777 would look really nice to but as unlikely as it is a 747 in Bi C/S would be soooooo cool
