Adding to their TLC-LAX service commencing in July, Concesionaria Vuela Compania de Aviacion, S.A. de C.V. (dba Volaris) has applied with the DOT for commence GDL-LAX this summer.

This goes along with what Volaris had mentioned to local authorities that it plans to expand frequencies and destinations rapidly from LAX beyond the initial single TLC flight.

I was actually surprised that they didn't do this earlier when they applied for the TLC-LAX, TLC-OAK and GDL-OAK routes.

They were uanble to at the time as the government of Mexico had yet to designate them as the 3rd authorized Mexican carrier on the route and this approval did not come till late April.
(6A was listed as the 3rd airline and Volaris had to have this non-used authority stripped).

LAX is a great choice. WN has a large operation there.

Not wasting any time the DOT today approved Volaris request with immediate effect.

Lets now wait for Y4 to publish their proposed schedule.

Effectively July 1st, 2009:

Y4 914 GDL 2130 LAX 2245 DAILY
Y4 913 LAX 0030 GDL 0540 DAILY

Y4 1001 TLC 11:00 - 12:45 LAX (DAILY
Y4 1000 LAX 9:45 - 15:25 TLC DAILY

Combo mix of Airbus 319 and A320 operation.

And YES, those TLC-LAX schedules are correct! How will they rotate the aircraft? Who knows!

Me says either an extra flight will be added, or a new city announced.
Months ago we were told Y4 plans 3 daily service to launch, so I'd say something is in works.  Wink

Sure do. We have around 114-120 flights a day, depending on the schedule.

I don't get one thing. The TLC-LAX flight arrives to LAX at 1245pm which means they can virtually catch or connect to anywhere as a WN codeshare. But the GDL gets in at 1045pm with our last outbound flight to anywhere departing around 930pm. No chance of a connection there.

My posts/replies are strictly my opinion and not that of any company, organization, or Southwest Airlines.

Perhaps Y4 didn't get the message that WN doesn't do redeyes  Wink

This might have already been answered in another thread but are they going to T2 to be with TACA and near WN at T1?

T2 but no relationship with TACA. Just happens the pricing was good at T-2 over TBIT.

Any ideas if other destinations will be added?, It will be great if PHX is added since AM stopped flying direct from MEX.

Hello 777Man!

Well, yes, the schedule has now been changed, possibly noticed and orrected.

Y4's service will be a bit far better vs WN. And I saw it as I've flown both!

LAXintl, remember TACA owns a 25% stake in Volaris.

Hardly... perhaps MX could be landing in PHX before any other mexican.
