Should I Fly AA Or UA?

Hey everyone! I'll be going from LAX or SNA to GRB (Green Bay, WI, USA) in early November. I was wondering if I should fly UA and take my first ride on a 744 (from LAX-ORD) and connect on Air Wisconsin, or fly AA and fly on a 757, 737-800, or 767 but fly First Class and connect on American Eagle. However, if I fly UA, it will be in coach. Thanks in advance!

RWally

BTW, in case your wondering, I'm going to Green Bay to go watch the Packers beat Tampa Bay on 11/4.

Even if we were talking coach, I might lean toward AA because of their more room throughout coach (unless you were lucky enough to end up in Economy Plus).

Since we're talking first in AA vs. coach on UA, there's no contest. Go AA and enjoy the game (make sure to get one of those Cheese Head things).

Cheers,

Go with UA. I hate to say it, but the last few times I've flown AA, they've sucked. So, go with UAL.

Go Green Bay!

Go UA, especially since you get to experience the 747-400 on a "cheaper" domestic flight vs an expensive Int'l flight. If you are going on space/comfort choose AA I must say.

I'm sorry, but anyone who tells you to take UA Coach over AA First Class has to be smoking crack.  Smokin cool

Besides, UA changes equipment all the time, so even if they say the flight is going to be a 744, chances are by the time your flight comes around, it will be different equipment...

UA's 744s have PTVs in coach...well most of them do. By August, all of them will.

By the way, where do you see UA offering a 744 between LAX and ORD in November? My electronic timetable lists no such flight (the largest plane is a 763 between those two cities)...

Mr. 717 -- Sorry you had a bad experience on AA last time you flew them. I've had bad experiences (and good) on both airlines.

All things being equal, first class beats the hell out of coach any day on either airline.

A couple weeks back, UA's website said there was a 744 from LAX-ORD. I have a friend who works for UA, and he said it is the continuing part of the SYD-LAX-ORD run. I guess this just proves that UA does change the equipment a lot. I think I'll go with AA (probably because they're my fav. and I can fly First Class)...but who knows. Thanks again.

If you are flying coach and leg room is important to you (like it is to me), then go with AA. UA's leg room is typical coach. AA is not.

I always tell people ot fly UA because I try to stay loyal to them and they have been good to my family over the years. BUT, if you can fly first class over coach in any airline situation, I say go for first.

If you can, try to take a 767 because you might get one configured for Int'l and get a PTV. Also for the Green Bay flight you're better with American Eagle because you're assured an ERJ vs a possiblity of being on a Dornier turboprop and the possibility of being on a CRJ/ARJ.

Enjoy wisconsin.

You should rephrase your question. FIRST OR COACH? Well lets see.... sounds like a Celebrity jeopardy question to me... Anyway, since you get First class I'd say AA. But for the same price you should be able to go Midwest Express, which I've heard is good.

I personally I'm not a big fan of both in terms of service or anything else. So I fly SWA, CO, NWA, Midwest, Midway and Jetblue for US domestic travel. For international it's Kuwait, Air India, Virgin, KLM, SAS, Emerates, Gulf or SIA.
