I am assuming that they are very similar to Air Canada's A330's. I have never flown the A340 but I have flown the A330. And it was the nicest aircraft I have ever been on. The leg room was extremely generous even in hospitality. But I won't say anything else because I've never been on them.

Yeah, the legroom on AC A340 is good. However, I don't like to fly with their A343 at all. I had an experience from YYZ to YVR on A343, and it was a bad experience. It was so bored on the plane and the seat width is worse than their
A319. Actually, when I reserve the flight, I had a choice of A343 and B744 Combi, but I chose A343. I made a bad decision, I should choose their B744 instead. -_-

I don;t think that you can help the length of the trip, although the 744 probably would have been going a bit faster.
The A340 is nice...plenty of leg room and I have a hard time seeing how the seats are smaller then on the A319 seeing as how AC has custom seats and they are pretty much all the same on the airbuses.

But you can maybe aplit the wing tips to have BOTH winglets and a swept one like existing 764s.
I never been on 340s.. I feel sorry to myself.. but I can only wish.
Whats the Jumpseat like?

I don't know what's wrong with you guys, but i think you were all drunk when you flew AC 340!!! I've flown on it 4 times since the beginning of the year on YVR - HKG route in Y class and i have to say it was the worst trips ever. I usually fly AC and appreciate their comfort and all the rest. But common, the seat pitch is rediculous for such long flights. I'm 5'8 and my knees were touching the seat in front of me. Besides that the food was awful, and the cabin is cramped when the flight is full. Plus there were no PTV's. For such an airline on such an aircraft, not up to world standards.
Both times i flew with AC out of HKG, the ground crew were very unfriendly and even the AC manager was very rude. Since these two trips, AC lost me as a customer. Not only due to the A340, but also due to way the grouncrew in HKG treated me was too much. Sure i accept it once, but both times is too much. I make about 50 business trips a year in both classes all around the world.

Aesch, I agree with you. I flew an AC A340 to Tokyo and back (both very long trips) and found the leg room to be just as lousy as every other airline. If it is 34" then that is news to me, because I flew a Korean Air 744 in Y class last year that advertises 34" of legroom and their was a visible difference between AC and KE. I am 6ft 1, and the AC flight was dreadful in terms of legroom (not quite as awful as Northwest's DC-10s). I don't know if AC have refitted their A340s on some routes, but if not, then the folks on here are very short, or were suitably anesthesized before their flights.
