I thought Westjet was only using old 732's, but I just read taht they have at least one new 737-700. Does anyone know if they are really rejuvenating the fleet, and to what extent? I don't even know how many planes they have, i coudlnt' find fleet info last time I was on their web page. Also, are they planning to stick with all 737's?

Any info appreciated.

Take Care

Leloup

WestJet's vision is to be the next SouthWest Airlines.......It makes sense that they use the same aircraft... Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I think the excessive aircraft order might weaken westjet and lead to it's finacial demise.

94 planes don't sound all that excessive considering that they have almost zero presence in the east. They'll need those planes when they expand east of YHM.

YHM?? Hamilton>?

hehe. the next Southwest..
Thats a good point man.
Southwest is blooming like crazy and Westjets trying to copy them..
But its based in Calgary and I live in Calgary and WJ has new hanger done at YYC. So Go Westjet..
Get your 737-7000s and combine with the 275 and such..
Damm.. In a matter of years, 737s will fill almost every airport including Iqualuit..

I plan on hijacking one 700 version as I like to add it onto my model collection .. Big grin

Imagine if SW and WJ merged.........

I think that Westjet is going so become a bnig airliner over the next 10 years. Its going to be good for me living in YHM scince eventually it should attract other airliners,C3? who knows buts they are growing here rapidly.

fly_yhm: Westjet has a total of 94 aircraft ordered and OPTIONED. They have 36 on firm order, and 58 on option. And considering their loads, They need these.
