I flew out of CVG this morning and was advised by the agent that CO will be moving to Terminal 2 next month.

I assume this move is to be closer to UA/US *A carriers but with all the space in Terminal 3 why doesnt UA/US/AA move to T3? Terminal 1 is already closed, Terminal 2 only has 6 gates and its operations can easily be absorbed into the newer Terminal 3.

My guess it a good part of it has to do with leases between Delta and the airport - it's quite possible DL was subleasing the two gates to CO, and the leases were set to expire and it was decided to not renew them.

CO is leaving for Star, and the leases just happen to be expiring? Talk about timing! LOL

More likely that DL had the right to cancel the lease for any reason, and gave CO the boot as part of the divorce. I agree though that the KCAA should find a way to get all carriers into T3.

With the Greyhound Terminal (aka Concourse C) shut down, there are a few banks where pretty much every gate is being used - for one bank, passengers are bussed to planes, so the two CO gates will be able to take 3 DL CRJs during that bank and cut down on busing.

It would be pretty hard to fit AA, US, UA and CO all into Terminal 3 given that DL does use the current gates during its banks.

Last February I flew into CVG on AA, when we deplaned into Terminal 2 I could not believe the number of people. It reminded me of Terminal C back in the "hey day" of Comair. It was early evening with US, MQ, UA all with flights on the ground.

Now throw CO into the mix, Terminal 2 will be CVG busiest terminal for the "O:GOD" early morning departure.
