Air Dominicana To MIA?

I know Wikipedia is notorious for its inaccuracy and rampant speculation (then again, isn't A.net, to some extent?  Silly ), but I noticed that the Wiki article on MIA lists Air Dominicana as planning to launch SDQ-MIA flights this coming August.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_International_Airport#New_Services

Can anyone confirm if this is the case? If so, how far have they gotten, in terms of DOT authorization, etc? Whatever happened to the other Dominican carrier that was supposed to start flying here this month?

They got DOT authorization last week. One daily flight, arriving at 8PM leaving at 9PM starting August 1st. It will be bookable after Memorial Day.

Coincidently PY outsourced its MD82 flights to PAWA Dominicana until the end of this month. This is a short term solution as PY is awaiting the arrival of their first 733 in early June. So you will be able to see the PAWA Dominicana DC-9 in MIA but it will be operating for PY.

Isn't this a relatively big decrease in capacity compared to the MD-82? Then again, I've never seen the PBM-AUA-MIA flight particularly full.

Mark, do you have a general estimate of when we'll see 7Q here on their own accord? Just out of curiosity, how do you always manage to have the latest-breaking airline news?

The wikipedia article is very much out of date.

Can anyone give details as to what the present fleet is, routes currently operated, routes planned (and potential start dates), and any other info about Air Dominicana. According to wikipedia they were planning services to POS, any idea if and when this might materialize?

It looks like they're currently a one-aircraft operation. As JRodriguez136 posted, flights begin August 1st and their 73G will fly SDQ-JFK-SDQ-MIA-SDQ on a daily basis.

They've got DOT approval, now I wonder if they've submitted anything to the officials at MIA.

and their 73G

As far as I know they don't have a 73G but a 733.

My bad. I saw the winglets and forgot that we've got 733s and 735s flying around with winglets now.
