It's official - EI has reported its 1 millionth booking from Belfast International Airport.

They opened their base there 17 months ago in December 2007 and have flown to/plan to fly to:

London (LHR)
Rome (FCO)
Milan (MXP)
Tenerife (TFS)

using 3 Airbus A320s (2 this winter), competing with resident carriers EasyJet and Jet2.com. EI is now the second largest carrier operating at BFS, behind U2.

I think the big reduction this winter is a good move and will benefit the base as a whole in the future. Cutting the weakest routes and retaining the strongest can only be good for the base and despite being smaller it is in a much stronger position than it has been.

The performance of Heathrow last month was very good, a load factor of 79% and passenger numbers were apparently up around 30% partly helped by the Easter holidays falling in early April this year.
