Didn't see any threads on this, so.....
According to an article in the East Valley Tribune (PHX), Gateway Airport's board is trying to attract service from Virgin America. Here's a link to the full article.

Like the article says, Gateway's got an uphill battle here. I would think that if VX were going to serve the PHX area, they would go into Sky Harbor first.

I think there are other stations on the priority list above Phoenix, such as Chicago, Miami and Portland. And when VX starts service to Arizona, it would most likely be to Sky Harbor. Their business plan is to serve the primary, more business-popular airports.

I pretty much agree with your entire statement BigG' (and yours as well, Midex') except I don't see PDX as necessarily a higher priority than PHX; I personally would rank both cities about equal for chances of seeing VX service.

VX would be about the last U.S. carrier I would expect to see moving into secondary airports so if they did start Phoenix service, it would definitely be at Sky Harbor.

(I would also expect that Sky Harbor is working just as hard to get VX as a tenant as Gateway is -- they just aren't announcing their efforts.)
