Several airport sources have confirmed Federal Express is in the process of opening a facility at PBI. Talk is they will occupy a good portion of the airport cargo building originally designed for the U.S. Mail and now only occupied by UPS. Sources said they may park as many as three aircraft a night at the new facility. The operation is expected to be up and running before the end of this year.

Very surprised to here an airport and city that size has not had Fedex service untill now. I realize they have a pretty big operation down I-95 at FLL but still surprised.

I'm pretty sure PBI charges some awfully high fees to operate from the airport. I'm wondering, with several airlines having pulled out (United, Frontier, Sun Country) and the economy in the can, whether the airport gave FedEx a somewhat sweeter deal to move in?
Either way, when they start up, I'll be sure to post some pics!!
