I flew VX yesterday and was surprised to see, er hear, that they blast advertisements for Windows Mobile, Absinth and two other companies at the end of the safety pre recorded spiel. It was incredibly loud, and takes place during taxi, take off roll and actual takeoff.
Apparently it is actually spiced to the end of the safety video so it also has visuals playing in the seat backs. I was in first. Since our video displays are stowed until flight (we just listen to the audio blaring through the cabin while FA performs the routine) we were just subjected to the audio of the adverts.
I felt it annoying and maybe even a tad dangerous. I mean, they shouldn't be playing during take off, right? They had to blast the audio to be heard over the engines. Does anybody else do this? It left a bad taste in my mouth being subjected to this on a $600 r/t flight just down the coast to LA. Did Virgin cross some line for this revenue stream? Or am I being too picky?
