Greetings forum,
Have any of you been on a major plane crash, incident, or something that made the news? Like was anyone on SQ006? Im asking because mt Aunt was on the Delta jet, that was forced to turn around in Russian airspace, and that made the news.

well just to add to this board, if you are talking about incidents that made the news, a good buddy of mine was on one of those Northwest DTW incidents in 1999. You know with all the weather delays and other problems.
He was to leave for LA at 11am. He sat on the plane for 45 minutes before he was told that there was a mechanical problem- it was a DC-10. They transfered onto another DC-10 which also later had a mechanical problem. By now it was 1:00p, they were supposed to leave at 11am. He is back in the airport and the passengers were told that they would be put on standby for a flight that would leave at 10:45p. The gate personnel was very rude and of course there were a lot of pissed off passengers which brought the airport cops.
By now it was 5pm, an old lady needed to get her medication that was in her suitcase. They wouldn't get her luggage, about an hour later she passed out.
Well with all this unrest at DTW, it attracted the local newstations and made the news. He did finally leave however at 10:45p.
I work with a guy who was involved in a more popular incident at DTW. He was one of the many victims of a Northwest flight on January 2, 1999. One of the many that got stranded in the blizzard. He was trapped in a 727 for 10 hours on the tarmac.
