Anything new in your area airport? Post up the news...

ILM News,

Republic wants to put a crew base here. Base 50-75 crew members here. CHS is in the running but wilmington is #2 on their list. They get a hanger to do light Mech on the 4 E-Jet over nights amongst other things.

Looked like in the US website, we we're loosing mainline but we are not as they just haven't updated the skeds with the E-190's in them.

Have the DL Connection Saabs started flying to MYR yet? ILM is getting two more DL flights to ATL for the summer. That gives us a total of 8 daily turns

EWN (New Bern) is going up to 4 daily flights starting June 1. A first for the city. But, on the flip side, US is dropping to 6 daily flights. No return of the PHL flight and most flights will be the Dash-8. subpar service from them, I think.. but oh well.. I guess passenger numbers are dropping everywhere..

June 16th I believe is when they start. I can't wait to see a mainline airline back in AVL, putting those jetbridges to use *^^*

It is true...they are flying the A346 again this summer daily.

Some other Charlotte notes:
- New Runway due to Open this Fall.
- New 3,000 space North Parking Deck due to open by end of 2009.
- In November 2009 the Airport plans to sell $300M in bonds to fund the replacement of the Hourly Parking Decks/Rental Car Facility and Expansion of Ticketing/Baggage Claim
- New Terminal Roadway signage should be going up soon.
- New Multimodal Railyard between 36L and 36C is awaiting FAA and Environmental approval

CLT is featured in this month's Airports magazine. They have some nice recent aerial shots of the Airport...you can pick it up at your local bookstore or visit them online

We're adding 2 more jet bridges FINALLY to make a total of 6 gates with maiting bridges (one has steps attached for E-145's and junket charters we get to Gulfport.

Other news is that G5's load facter to SFB are still in the high 90's (95% last month) and we're hoping to get an additional frequency to Orlando. The also stay busy with charter's to different gambling cities that usually one-stop to RDU. Our allocated seats on those MD-87's go out full.

Have a question.. for those that has used the AA Club at RDU.. does it have showers? When I look at AA.com, it doesn't state the AAdmirals club have showers.. but I thought I read online that it did.

Any update on the Delta Crown Room? Last I remember reading was that there was no construction started yet. Anyone have an update.

Lastly, does US still plan to close the US Club when they move to Terminal 2?

At GSO, Allegiant has moved to the DL/NW/CO terminal from the South Concourse.

Earlier this year, I heard rumblings of US considering GSO-BOS flights since DL dropped them awhile ago.

US Airways Club completed full renovation in late March and is under a new 3 year contract with the airport authority.

Any idea why G5 is dropping PIE to GSO since it is running 90% or more? Also wondering why they haven't returned the FLL service since Skybus killed it off. That route did well from here. Wonder if them moving to the north concourse has anything to do with maybe future frequencies increasing?

Heard United may add another flight to ORD, was wondering about this. The guys on the GoJet planes said loads are high and business class seats are selling well. Also heard United may start DEN a few times per week.

American hasn't started the MD88 Dallas service back this year. That is surprising. Also the rumor of them starting ORD has vanished again.

FedEx has opened up the hub, been increased flights. More dailies to IND and MEM plus SJU and BQN along with a bunch more regional little cities. They are supposed to add more more flights this summer. So far, multiple dailies to Wilmington, New Bern, Roanoke, Miami, Baltimore, Newark along with the ones mentioned above. FedEx took over Carribean Transportation Services from Tradewinds

ABX Air has picked up to Puerto Rico, Baltimore and Wilmington OH.

Tradewinds hasn't flown a flight from GSO in just short of a month.

I guess the only other thing about GSO is that Jet America is on the radar if they last.

Heard US Airways might start BOS back up, which would be nice. I really wish they would start BWI back up.

So for my questions, why doesn't Greensboro have service to FLL on Allegiant, BOS & BWI on US Airways, SLC on Delta and DEN on United already???

Where did you hear the GSO-DEN rumor? That one hasnt resurfaced in awhile so Im curious! The only way it would happen is on a CR7 or EMB175 because UA dropped their mainline employees from here (although I still see some of the same people around)...

I think the Allegiant PIE drop is just for a few months.

I hope the PIE drop is for a few months, thought I don't know why with loads the way they are. I like the direct as I use it for business trips.

The DEN rumor was from a gate agent in Denver last week when my flight was late and there were 20 people on my DEN-ORD flight connecting to GSO and going to miss the connection because the originating flight was late.

Anyone know why they moved Allegiant to the North Concourse? Did they put them in the cursed ticket location that was used by FlyI, Skybus, Eastwind and Shuttle America? What gate are the running the gambling charters out of now?

Last question too, I heard rumor Spirit might also start scheduled but non-daily flights. Is there any truth to that?

They are using space that was just vacated by NW right beside CO I believe, although they are using the old Skybus boarding ramps at gate 25. Hopefully they moved in order to have room for expansion.

The rumor about NK is neat. Would be a nice addition to FLL especially if G4 isnt gonna pick that route back up.

A lot of G4's Florida flights are suspended or reduced in frequency in the fall. Allegiant finds there is a drop in leisure travel from some cities during the first few months of the school year.

My guess is parents want to get their children settled into a school routine before taking them out of class for a vacation.

GSO-PIE is available again for booking flights after Nov 20th.

So if they are using the old Northwest area, they should have jet bridges, right? If not, then wouldn't they be at one of the old Skybus Gates? Curious, if they are using the Skybus ramps, they probably moved to save money over using the Jet Bridges.

They are using the old NW ticket counter space...which doesnt necessarily correspond to the gates they use, which now is gate 25.

Gate 25 used to be a CO gate before the North Concourse expansion. Now 25 is opposite from where it used to be (now Gate 26) and was a Skybus gate, hence why no jetway. Hope this makes sense.

US is still pretty busy here at GSP, but the best we ever get are CRJ's (NOT the 700's or 900's). GSP is a very corporate, business oriented area (for the South, anyway), so I'd have thought we'd get larger a/c than, say, ILM.

We're very corporate/business/film heavy here. GE headquarters is here. Cornings biggest plant is here and even leaves a Do-328 here and PPD Pharma HDQ is here amongst Fox movie studios. We get mainline E190's too but I just missed the noon departure. US boardings out of ILM is over 20,000 pax/mo. Even DL does 5-7k/mo and G4 is doing 5k/mo.

I'm sure if we had more than 3 airlines serving us, we'd be all USX birds too.

Indeed it does! I don't know why I thought different (prolly cause I fail at days)

If I pass recurrent training in the morning, I may have to treat myself to a flight back home to AVL. I really am thrilled that we're going to be getting a mainline carrier back home. I still remember being a kid and flying Piedmont out of there.
