Air India Increased Baggage Allowances

Air india have increased theur baggage allowances on their london-india flights from 20kg per person to 46kg, also students flying between india and north america can now take an additional piece (23kg) totalling 69 kg.


This is somewhat counter to what the industry is doing, is this just product differentiation to appeal to the VFR market during these highly competative times?

It is great for the customer- though i couldn't ever imagine hauling that much baggage around! It is advertised in their 'promotions' section so maybe it is a short term measure?
