A Kish Air McDonnell Douglas MD-82, flight Y9-7030 from Ahwaz to Tehran Mehrabad (Iran) with 131 passengers, returned to Ahwaz after a bomb was found in one of the lavatories about 15 minutes into the flight. The airplane landed safely, the passengers and crew were evacuated via slides.
The handcrafted bomb was defused and dismantled on the ground.

Although Iran is not the safest plane on earth today, this shows that planes are still vulnerable and easy target for terrorists.
Fortunately security guards on board this flight were able to disclose the bomb on time.
We all know major international airlines have sky marshal or security guards on board but what about when the plane is grounded?
I always wonder when planes are grounded, between each flights (it could vary from few hours to weeks) if the security and safety of the plane solely depends on the airport authorities, airlines or outsource agency. Is there any international procedure?

You cant say that all planes are unsafe in regards to terrorists.
The planes safety, in regards to terror, is DIRECTLY effected by the level of security provided at the airport that it is currently located at. Apprently the security precautions at that airport were not strict enough.
But seriously, you dont need a bomb in order to hijack or compromise an aircraft. Just think of ALL the possible tools that are found on board that can be used in a hostile manner. Seriously!
in the words of George Carlin:
"After youve been flying for about an hour, they are gonna give you a knife and fork!"
You can definitly do damage with a fork, even with that little knife that they provide. But even if not, go to the bathroom and shatter the mirror, use the glass as a weapon!
I am not trying to give ideas to anyone, frankly if you devote two minutes of thought to it you can find more than enough items to use. My point is that if you REALLY wanted to do it, you still could regardless of todays measures. Especially on those flights that dont have a marshall on board.
