Hi Guys...
I am at HKG right now waiting for my flight to DOH with onward connection to MAN...
Over HKG right now it is pretty stormy with a lot of thunder and lightning and the situation seems to be deteriorating with thunder and lightning all around the airport. Flights do at the moment seem to be leaving.
My flight is not due to depart for about 1hr 45mins, I only have a short window of about 2hrs for my connection. If my flight leaving HKG is delayed due to the weather and I miss my flight to MAN, will QR make me wait to Friday or would they likely out me on another flight to another European airport and connect me on to MAN?
QR staff here do not know the answer and told me not to worry... Maybe I am worrying for nothing!
Fortunately as the flight arrives from DOH about 2.30pm in the afternoon, it has just been towed to the gate from where it has been parked for the last 10hrs,.. So there is no problems with the A330 arriving in HKG...

If the delay for arrival is not too much they will make your flight to MAN wait for sometime. However, rest be assured QR will give you an option to wait for the next day flight to MAN or put you on a flight to LHR and then get you to MAN.
At DOH connections the legal minimum time for connections is 30-35 mins. So 2 hours is a LOT. So relax and don't worry.

Quoting Airmale (Reply 2): I am wondering if they live up to their 5Star image....
Im sure they will live up to their five star image, coming out they were excellent! Everything from cabin crew, ground staff, the A330's used and the IFE...
Only critisim was the length of bus transfer from terminal to aircraft at Doha for our HKG flight, took 25 mins to drive us to the aircraft! That is no exageration!
Weather is getting worst here, but staff insist flight is ontime! Had a few huge bolts of lightning and thunder shaking the terminal! We have got a few concerned passengers here, making references to recent events of the AF flight.
Im unlikely to do a trip report, as I intend to sleep most the way and won;t be any photo's... I'll see what I can do when get home in 22hrs!

Got to Doha fine, they began boarding an 1.25hrs before departure and was a very radid boarding to say the least...
I think this was to ensure we departed at the earliest opportunity...
Departure over HKG was quite and bumpy and lots of turns, we also travelled about 400 miles further than on the outward flight, according to the information on the PTV's... Captain explained lots of storms over India and monsoon season.
Service on QR was excellent again!
I took a few photos nothing great but will try to whip up a trip report in the coming days... Im like a zombie right now, wishing I was on direct flight to London. But nevermind, will get to MAN eventually...

Quoting GFFgold (Reply 6): though DOH itself is a let down.
Hopefully, situation will improve significantly once the DIA opens ...
Indeed, those bus-transfers between plane and Terminal are a big let-down, especially when you're parked at the 'new' apron opposite the runway/Terminal...
