Hmm, maybe.. what are the largest F100 operators at the moment? It sounds like all 15 go to the same company. Or a new lowcost carrier, like with Helvetic in the past?

What is the average age of the F-100s still in service? Do any mainline carriers still have them in their fleets? Compared to other aircraft their size, how do they stack up efficiency wise? thanks John.

Quoting Ben175 (Reply 12): How about Skywest Australia? I guess you could call the F100 their "flagship" aircraft.
Unlikely, as with the slowdown in the mining industry in WA they barely have enough work for their current fleet. Plus A320s are next on their list for when they start expanding again.

Quoting GFFgold (Reply 11): I wouldn't be entirely surprised if at least some of them end up in Indonesia.
From what I've heard, they are destined for a single company in the Middle East or CIS, although not any of the countries companies already mentioned.

Not sure about other companies, but the F100 KL is selling now are some of the oldest F100s around, most of them built in 1989, with some younger ones.
The history of the birds is very diverse and some of them have seen a large variety of operators. Take this one for example, PH-OFK, stored at WOE since March 2009:
The airframes have been originally delivered to Inter Canadian, Intair, Air Europe, KLM, Air Littoral, Midway airlines and TAM. The Midway and TAM frames are newer (1993-1995); possible that these are staying for a little longer.

I also heard it was something in the middle east, presumably Iran, and that there was a training deal involved too, that KLM cityhopper will train the crews for this airline.
KLC is keeping the 5 TAY 650 powered airframes, but rumor within the company has it that these will be sold too, doesn't make much sense to keep just 5 of them next to the E190's.

The F100 has a pretty impressive commonality with the 70's they are keeping, so would it really be that much more expensive?

In an effort to further irk its customers in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, DL will buy 15 Fokker F-100's from KL for use on some of its African routes. This move, in addition to eliminating any non-stop service on DL because of the numerous fuel stops necessary, will also raise the ire of these passengers as the only inflight entertainment will be an enhanced version of the safety briefing.
Management has hinted that if these work out, the service may be upgraded to the DC-9s DL received in the merger with NW.
