Could it be a Seattle Sounders FC (football/soccer) logo jet? It's similar in color...

Seems to me i've seen a Dash-8 with similar green colors parked at the Bombardier hangar in Tucson recently. Not sure if it's the same plane or not.

Now that you mention it, I don't think it is a QX ac. It has a Canadian registration. (C-FVGY)

Obviously not conclusively indicative of a QX bird, but it does have an American flag on it in the same place that QX places the flag on their regularly painted Q400s.

I'm not sure what color would effectively promote... perhaps Wrigley Chewing Gum? Regardless who this plane goes to, that is a hideous looking paint job.  twocents

I think that if it is for QX, it's destined to be a logo plane for the University of Oregon, as those are (close to) their colors.

I disagree. The next college livery should look a lot similar to this.... The lines would all be the same except the colors (duh!) would be different and so would the logos....

According to the most recent update to the DHC list (which includes the Dash 8) on Airlinerslist, this a/c is indeed destined for QX. No answer to the paint scheme mystery though.

Perhaps this is some sort of "green" themed a/c promoting something environmental-related? The lime green is definitely throwing off any thoughts of it being an University of Oregon livery.

Then it has got to be the Seattle Sounders soccer theme plane. The University of Oregon's colors are much darker than that, which you have already implied.

I think the Sounders idea is a stretch. Their colors are green and blue, and it is only one shade of green, not three.

Now that I think about it, that is correct....

I just don't get the yellow streak on the side of the Q400....  confused

What I don't understand is if this is indeed headed to QX, why isn't it painted with their name on it? All of QX and AS for that matter, have the airline name still clearly visible on any special livery airplanes. Is there any chance they would paint the plane in two phases? It doesn't seem like it would be flying around until that 2nd phase is complete, if indeed they do two phases.

The plane is most likely awaiting titles "Horizon" and the "meatball" as its still called for the tail, despite it's really not "meatbalish" anymore...

This is the same color as the new branding for Horizon and "efficiency." Its all about being green!

My guess is that its a G400 "green machine" promotional type of thing for the all Q400 fleet transition.

Hopefully this one has window shades, a sink in the lav, maybe the seats even recline!

And the seat pitch is reverted back to 34" (or was it 36"?) like it was when QX first started flying the Q400's.

I looked into this last night. Apparently the aircraft if going to be used for promotional purposes as the "green machine." Emphasizing Horizon's environmental commitment- I think it's a wonderful idea.

You can find more information about this in Horizon Air's In-flight magazine, they have a whole page devoted to the Q400 and it's "greeness"

Saw this one in the infield @ YYZ last week when I was there for the A380. Speculation in our group was rampant at the time and I wasn't able to get a decent photo, but I'm pretty sure it had an N reg on it at that point. Wherever it ends up it will certainly be unique.
