OAG changes may not appear in GDS till Monday. Comparison is what was loaded for sale this week versus last week. I'm aware, for example, that seasonal services are not "NEW" routes, but if they were not for sale last week and were loaded this week they are "NEW" for sale.
Who is ED? It says it is a Pakistani carrier on the web, but must really be a new DR airline.

Quoting UN_B732 (Reply 1): Is ED the new Miami-based Eastern Airlines project?
Doubtful. I think we'd know a lot more about it if so. This is somebody with a new Part 121 or equivalent foreign flight certificate. It's most likely a D.R. based airline.
Good work. It appears they are a start-up. Anybody know about them? Are they govt backed? Refresh my memory, who was the prior D.R. based airline and what happened to them?

Much of those look like an extension of the summer schedules
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

Well it was LAN Dominicana which was a division of LAN Chile which never materialiazed. It was just a code shared LA flight. Prior to that I believe it was Dominicana de Aviacion. Mark will correct me if there was someone in between. The DR has always has trouble keeping a national carrier. Tough US competition is always the problem. Most DR traffic is incoming US scheduled and European charters. At one point, the DR government gave up and allowed foreign carriers to operated in/out of DR. Even AA had plans to base aircrafts in SDQ but after the economic crash, I believe everything went down.

Air dominica ?? The website is so bad that it will put passengers off booking. I found it very difficult to understand and whoever translated the Spanish to English did a poor job. If you are going to try to entice US and other non spanish speaking passnegers then you need to make the website friendly. |In addition there appears to be no information about the services provided the baggage situation etc. After making the booking it means that you have to go to the offices at the airport prior to going to checkin and provide the card it was booked with to get a ticket. This precludes any travel agent bookings.
Summer schedule went from 1x to 2x. Now it goes from 2x to 3x.
This just puts it back where it was 2 years ago at 3x and where is sat mostly over the past 10 years. It was actually at 4x and briefly at 5x per day about 3-5 years ago.

But they aren't going after Americans. They are going after the Dominican population. The American populaton has many options way before they choose Air Dominicana.

Welcome to the Latin world. In the Anglo world, that website wont work', but trust me as someone who lives in Miami and teaches Hispanics, that population will have NOT problem navigating the website. Most wont book online anyway. Most in Santo Domingo and the rest of the DR will head to a local travel agency to book or walk right up at the airport counter. Trust me!

Was this service ever launched or announced, I don't recall ever seeing anything about this? I know the airport would be smearing PR all over this if AM was to fly here.
The red zone is for the immediate loading and unloading of passengers only, there is no stopping in the white zone...(Ai

JAX-NYC has always seemed a bit underserved to me. Look at, say, RDU, which is a little bit bigger and a little bit closer but not really that different from JAX... They see quite a bit more NYC service.

Not really sure how JAX and RDU compare. Raleigh has a strong business traffic market to RDU. Jacksonville is in Florida only by borders - culturally and economically it is more similar to southern Georgia. It does not have strong business or cultural ties to New York City like most of Florida south of Gainesville.

But you can make comparisons to other cities in the region, too. SAV is about 1/4 the size of JAX and has well more than 1/4 the service to NYC....
SAV has a strong tourism component that is absent from Jacksonville. Savannah is a popular vacation spot for people from the Northeast. As is Charleston, South Carolina, as well as Asheville, North Carolina.

As is Amelia Island (served through JAX), right? I know it's reasonably popular with folks in flyover country, but I'm less sure about the east coast.

Amelia Island, which is accessed via JAX as you say, is very much a niche destination. Its a very small island, less than a dozen hotels. It doesn't really compare to Savannah and Charleston.
I'm not really sure of the popularity of the island with Northeasterners. I've always thought of it as popular with wealthy Southerners.
I wonder if they would ever through something larger than a CRJ on this route on a regular basis. Maybe a CR7? Heck, a CR9 would be nice, would give DL the only F seats in CHA.
Is it bad that I get excited to see even a CRJ overfly? Man, what this place does to you

Aren't all of those destinations pretty seasonal, though? SAV is pretty unpleasant in August.

25 Enilria: May be, if they are flying the Summer schedule in the Fall rather than what they had previously been selling that is still good news. THANKS I assume
