I never quite got the stuff about MOU.
Is it anything different than Paramount telling Airbus that:" Hey, we like your product and we might buy it, maybe, sometime, perhaps, possible hopefully in the future if we still like it.

Good question, something I've been wondering also. From a bit of research on the net, it seems that an MOU is not legally binding, but is a way for the intentions of the airline to be communicated to the manufacturer in advance of the signing of a legal contract.
I'm not sure what the advantage is of doing this. Why do airlines not just wait until a formal order can be made? Does an MOU secure delivery slots in advance in case an order is made?

Probably locks the price/slots in for a certain period of time at a certain "consideration" during the MoU signing?

Hey that's a really cool airplane you have on sale there.
I'll take ten of them, and the options to take ten more at x price with Delivery in Y(ear)
Deposit? Oh, right. Yeah, let me give you a call once I have the financing put together. Thanks!
Does anyone remember the airline that bought some 787's early on that everyone said was a paper order. Did they ever cancel that?

Good to see Paramount sign a MOU for 10+10 A321's.
Paramount was talking for a long regarding route expansion and acquisition of A350/B787. This announcement, if not for A350/B787 is for a bigger aircraft than their current fleet.

Somehow I find it tough to believe Paramount will get those A321s...seeing whats happening with the recruitment process of Pliots recently, things don't look so optimistic.
