I flew GSO-CVG back in 2004-2005 on mainline - started as an MD-88, went to a 737-200, then went RJ.

A lot, LOL.
I mean, to date, there are about 41 mainline flights out of CVG.

Quoting FlyASAGuy2005 (Reply 6): mean, to date, there are about 41 mainline flights out of CVG.
What are they I presume most FL destinations.
How long will it be until BDL has more mainline flights than CVG.
I mean, to date, there are about 41 mainline flights out of CVG.
In June of 2005, DL mainline had 139 flights out of CVG. I swear, if DL could have figured out how to put drop tanks on an RJ, they would have run those POS on the flights to Europe out of CVG.

ONT used to see 727's from CVG for a time.

I flew on my last ever Boeing 727 flight in March, 2001 out of CVG. It was DL399, CVG-MSY, in the Ron Allen colors.
CVG-MSY was mainline throughout the 90's and into the mid 00's. At one point or another just about every DL narrowbody flew the route....72S, 73S, D9S, M88, M90, and 757.

TOL-CVG was mainline in the up until the end of 1983. 2x DC9 and 1x 722.
Any opinion/comment posted is that of my own and not that of Southwest Airlines Co.

I remember flying a DL 767-400 to LAS out of CVG in the summer of 2004. (Sorry guys,I can't remember the flight number) but I know for a FACT it was: A) 2 hours delayed and B) PACKED!!! But it was a great flight anyway...my first on a 767!!

I used to fly the 738 between CVG and RIC all the time. The RIC-CVG flight left at 6 in the morning; in F a continental breakfast was served and "Just For Laughs" was played on the overhead screens. From CVG to RIC, an evening flight, a large salad would be served in F on the 738. I remember being disappointed there was no hot meal in either direction. At one point, I think Y even got those Sky Deli bags before the entering the plane.
I also got to fly CVG-HNL-CVG on the 764 back when CVG was just beginning to shrink and the 764 was the highlight of the day. I still remember coming in from warm and humid Honolulu into Covington airport, which was covered in foot deep snow. I remember we couldn't get home to RIC for a day because CVG ran out of de-icing fluids. This was Christmas of 04' I think.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

I would guess the peak in mainline departures occurred shortly before the CRJ came online with Comair. Most of the EMB-120 flights were to smaller cities, while cities such as ABE, AVP saw mainline flights. Once the CRJs came online, those cities and many other comparable cities saw the downgrades.
25 CIDflyer: that would be correct, no widebody's except for Europe (AMS gets a 757). In fact I think the 738 is about the largest mainline equip used there these
27 TJM321: CMH still receives a 738 from CVG daily; this is even a downgrade from the 757's sent in until 2004. When I lived in Columbus, I enjoyed the pilot's j
28 Skibum9: There are still a few 752 flights left. However I would not be surprised to see these downgraded to the 738 or MD88. I also think that eventually you

31 OOer: With all the Comair flights being cut in CVG...it will also bring less connecting passenger to CVG. Therefore less mainline service will be needed. In
32 IH8B6: A few others...maybe already mentioned maybe not..... SWF ABE MDT BTR
33 USAirALB: I couldn't find any 757 flights, except to AMS. Maybe when they end all European flights, they'll put a 777/764 to CDG. Why are they axing AMS, its a
34 AvConsultant: The CVG hub is becoming a focus city. Actually, a Regional Focus City given the mix between mainline and regionals.
35 MSYtristar: DL had a 737-200 routing SHV-JAN-CVG and vice versa. I almost took that one in 1997 while at Louisiana Tech.
36 United_Fan: I remember flying there in a 732,July 95. Then it was an L1011 to ZRH .
37 SWABrian: In 1993, Flight 994 was a L1011 between DFW and CVG. I flew N728DA on 11/25/93
38 Widget1580: Yes! I remember this. SBN lost all mainline from DL Apr 1, 2000. They had 3 mainline a day to CVG, then cut to two, and then gone altogether. Now SBN
39 C767P: CVG still has 263 departures to 80 non-hub (DL and NW) destinations. Still a hub...
40 AvConsultant: Yes, CVG is a hub for now. Last Fall, DL said they were committed to CVG through the Summer of 2009 and at the same time discontinued service to seve
41 Skibum9: DL will be lucky to have 40 total flights a day after DL is done cutting. And that will be a mixture of mainline and connection. Obviously there will

44 DLlaxPride: I was just in CVG over the weekend. It is a shell of it's former self. Concourse C is completely shutdown, there were zero mainline a/c at the airport
45 Rampguy: I always did think that was a joke. Why did DL do this and why are the still flying a mainline into CMH from CVG?
46 MAH4546: To think it was only a year ago that people were arguing how important a role CVG would play, and how routes like CVG-FRA and LGW were obviously safe.
47 EMB170: Yes, the state of Indiana got a great deal of mainline DL from CVG way back when... I remember at the end of B concourse in CVG and seeing the evening
48 Rampguy: I don't remember any mainline from CVG-FWA. I thought the only mainline for FWA was to ATL and a tag on to TOL.
49 DeltaRules: For some that don't remember (or never knew in the first place), DL often ran multiple 757s CVG-CMH back in the day. Fun route for the 757 as a passen
50 AvConsultant: Back in the day, that was as recent as 2005.
51 DeltaRules: I know, but I guess I consider anything where CVG had more than 70 mainline flights a day "back in the day". They still had a 738 CVG-CMH until this m
52 C767P: The 738 on CMH-CVG goes through this month, changes July 2 to a CR7.
53 Ouboy79: Up through 1998, out of the 3 mainline flights FWA had to ATL...2 always had stops. Up through 1983, two of them stopped in CVG and then starting in
54 RampGuy: I think it is really sad that FWA, SBN and EVV will never see mainline scheduled service from any airline again.
55 DeltaL1011man: did i miss something...? FRA,LGW are cut. AMS(75E) and CDG(763) are staying.....thats two
