I'd like to fly an Air Tahiti Nui 340 sometime, although I don't know how exotic they are. I think they are among the best lookin' planes at LAX (right after UAL )

I love America. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle, but I'd rather be a dog in New York City than a prince in Riyadh.

I actually flew Icelandair BWI-KEF-CDG and back agian a coupla years ago; it was fine, but you're not missing much. It was pretty crowded (I think it was a 757 as I recall to KEF, then a 737 to CDG) as they had offered a super-cheap rate on the flight, the food was fine (tho I gorged on smoked salmon samples in the KEF airport changing planes), but you actually had to pay for your booze, which was pretty annoying. On the way back there was a tremendous snowstorm in Iceland, and we barely landed, and had to run and make our connection which involved getting on a bus to the plane in a howling storm, running up some air-stairs, and pounding on the door to get them to let us in.
Still if you're hot on taking them, they always have super cheap deals. I'd like to run up to Rekjavik one long weekend just to check it out - I hear it's a fun town.

Air New Zealand Exotic? Huh, the other expression was already taken. That would be like calling Alaska Airlines exotic.
IcelandAir would be good, but I would have too stop and have a look around.

I'd like to fly a few African carriers like
Ethiopian, Kenya Airways, Sudan and Air Madagascar.
Also Air Mauritius, Aeroflot (Hardly Exotic) and Finnair.
None of these carriers fly to my location so to Me they are exotic however to some others these choices are perhaps as common as muck.
Of climbouts original choices I share Finnair, but I have already flown Thai and Emirates.

Well, i still dont get exactly what is meant by exotic here...
but I have flown on some of the airlines some of you considered exotic :
Air NZ .... good experience, nice seats and friendly service...nothing exotic about it tho...very european.
Garuda Indonesia...i flew on their 747 400 in the upper deck...that was exotic for me personnally just because I usually sit in the back of the airplane...otherwise very good service.
Is Tarom exotic ? I flew their BAC111 from Bucarest to Zurich in a huge snowstorm...the steward sitting next to me started praying when the plane was just about to take off which did not give me any confidence. Then he was the first one in the whole plane to light up a cig as soon as the sign was turned off !!!! I dont find the staff too friendly then. Maybe its better now.
Airlines i would consider exotic personnally :
Saudia, Kuwait, Tahiti Nui, Air Nauru, RAM, Air Afrique, Air Algerie, Pakistan international, Air Guyane, Air madagascar....hm...

Hi guys,
Guerosinfe, JaseWGTN, BNE, and Parisien:
I picked the airlines that "I" personally find exotic. YES, to me (remember, you have to consider the source. I am a black female living in Southern California USA) flying Air New Zealand, Thai, Varig, Finnair ect..would be exotic, considering the cool places that they fly to, and they fly to places that I wanna go to, REAL BAD. An airline that I find exotic may not be exotic to some one else. I'm sure a person living in Turkmenistan would think flying Delta or United is exotic, or at least find them unique. It all depends on where you are coming from and where you are going. You see what I maen?
Superfly:
I'm proud of you for two reason: 1. You are brave enough to travel on Cubana (and yes, God will bring you back safe), 2. You are adventurous and going to Cuba. I heard the people there are friendly. I can't wait to read about it because I'm sure you will be posting a trip report about your flight.
Many of you have listed some very interesting airlines, that I have never heard of!!
